KeepCouncil

Terms of use

Updated October 12, 2026

What this is

KeepCouncil helps you understand what your city council does. It is free. Brian Kennedy runs it as a civic project.

By using KeepCouncil, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.

Check the source

We get our facts from records the city posts. We link every fact to the page it came from.

AI helps us read the records and write answers. AI can make mistakes. So can we, and so can the city’s records.

Each answer shows how sure we are. Before you rely on a fact, open its source and check it. This matters most for anything about money, the law, or your rights.

KeepCouncil is not legal advice. It does not speak for the city.

Asking questions

Anyone can ask questions, with or without an account. Each question costs us money to answer. So we limit how many you can ask in an hour and in a day.

Please don’t use a program to ask questions or copy pages in bulk. Don’t try to get around the limits.

Don’t type private facts about yourself or anyone else into a question. See our privacy page for where questions go.

Your account

You need an account only to write community notes or join a city workspace. You must be 13 or older to make one.

We sign you in with a link we email you. Keep your email safe, since anyone who can read it can sign in as you.

You can delete your account at any time from your account page.

Community notes

A community note tells us something we show is wrong. Your note is public, and it shows your public name.

You are responsible for what your note says.

Keep notes about the record. Be kind and honest. Don’t share private facts about anyone. Don’t post ads or anything against the law.

Don’t say that anyone broke the law or did something wrong on purpose. Don’t pick on or bother anyone.

Some notes wait for us to read them before anyone else can see them. This can happen when your account is new, or when a note might blame someone.

We may remove a note that breaks these rules. We may close an account that keeps breaking them.

Think a note should come down? Email support@keepcouncil.com and tell us which one.

You still own what you write. You let us show your note on KeepCouncil for as long as it is up. If you delete your account, your notes stay up signed “Former member”. You can take a note down yourself at any time.

City workspaces

A city can have a workspace. It shows the city’s people what looks wrong in the records the city posts. They can answer community notes there too.

To join, you ask, and we email the contact the city lists on its own website. We don’t check anyone’s job or ID. So a workspace badge means the city let that person in. It does not mean they speak for the city.

Workspace members speak for themselves. Their replies are public, with their public name and the city’s badge.

What a workspace shows is what we read in the records. We can be wrong. Always check the city’s own page.

We may pause a workspace, or remove someone from it.

No promises

We work hard to get things right, but we give KeepCouncil to you as it is. We don’t promise it will always be correct, complete, or working.

As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for harm that comes from using it. Your use of KeepCouncil is up to you.

Changes and contact

We may change these terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top. If you keep using KeepCouncil after that, you agree to the new terms.

The laws of Missouri apply to these terms.
